WidgetBucks Offering CPM Ads for International Traffic in Early December

WidgetBucks will be serving CPM (cost-per-thousand impressions) ads within its widgets so publishers can monetize their international traffic. This solution helps publishers with blended traffic from both U.S./Canada and international geographies, and addresses the concern expressed over our recent policy change to not pay on international clicks. Earnings from this update -- which takes place in early December -- will be reflected on publishers' MyWidgets reporting page in a new column to be titled "CPM Revenue."

At the time a user visits a page containing the widget, we will sense the geographic location of the visitor. If they are in the U.S. and/or Canada, the user will see the normal WidgetBucks widget. If the user is outside those two countries, then our system will determine a country- specific CPM ad to display. We are currently working with advertisers covering 100
countries and offering thousands of creatives to ensure that site visitors will be monetized for your benefit. All ads are restricted against adult or other suggestive themes.

As has been indicated on this blog and elsewhere, we are looking into additional solutions, including pay-per-click links to global merchants. Most of these longer-term solutions will require additional time to implement so we appreciate your patience as we work toward those.

In addition, as we prepare to distribute October earnings, WidgetBucks will be contacting directly those publishers who may have incomplete information (including payment method selection) within their MySettings page. Having this information 100% accurate and complete will help make the payment process as smooth as possible for everyone. As a reminder, PayPal is available for faster payment.

Great to see CPM ads being implemented.
It would also be great to be able to choose to show CPM ads all the time if we wish to rather than mostly CPC.

@pepperclick: thanks for the suggestion -- i'll definitely pass it along.

Will Romania be included in those 100 countries? We are in Europeean union, so i guess we should be...

but, i'd like a confirmation!

Also, tell us what will cpm range be?
0.01 - 0.05, 0.1-0.3 , 0.5-1 1-2 etc...

Good changes are afoot. BUT we would really like you to keep the 'pending' numbers. It is really nice to see where we stand throughout the day, instead of waiting for 24 hours.

Just my two cents.

Hey Widget Bucks!

Although I am glad that you have a blog (especially on Blogger) I was wondering whether or not you would think about making your weblog domain appear "more professional" by dropping the blog*spot at the end?

Basically, have Google host your blog for you, but have it appear on your domain (like blog.widgetbucks.com).

More info about that over on the official Blogger blog, Blogger Buzz.

Hi.. love to hear CPM will be used, but for that. is the site with none English ( 400,000.00hits/days and 20% US traffic ) can sign up?

Daniel Larsson said...

with 400.000 hits a day you should be talking to advertisers in person and requesting tailor made ad-solutions!

GREAT that the alternate ads are coming along!

Admin said...

i do not knoe if i understood this, you will start paying for 1000 impresions? even if the traffic comes from other coutry that non usa or canada? will you accept sites em other languages then english?

Hussein said...

that would be great! from widgetsucks. you're now back to widgetbucks. i hope you would also accept pay per click in other countries aside from CPM. hope that philippines will be included.

Dean Jutilla said...

@rock: romania is on the list -- and sometime next week, we'll have a better idea of the cpm rate.

Dean Jutilla said...

@ecs: the real-time figures were nice for some, but the change in figures from pending to audit was causing confusion among many others. so ultimately, they will be updated once per day -- by noon the following day -- and reflect the previous day's impressions, clicks and earnings.

Dean Jutilla said...

@darnell, thanks for the suggestion -- definitely something to consider.

Dean Jutilla said...

@binhaus: while we are offering international CPM ads to publishers, our terms still apply, meaning non-english language sites are not permitted into the network. also, we have now "gated" our network, meaning new publishers who wish to join must go through an approval process. existing publishers are "grandfathered" into the network and this gating does not change anything for them.

Will Russia be included in those 100 countries?

Dean Jutilla said...

@admin -- yes, widgetbucks is offering CPM ads (cost per thousand impressions) for international traffic, so when a user from the US or Canada comes to your site, they will see the usual widgetbucks widget, and when a user from outside those two countries visits your site, they will see a CPM ad, for which you will be paid. regarding non-english language sites, our policy still remains in effect and we are not accepting those.

Dean Jutilla said...

@hussein - nice to be out of your widgetsucks column ;-) as stated in our blog post, we are working on additional solutions, including global merchants that will provide PPC for international clicks. that is taking some time to establish, so the CPM ads announced today (and that begin early December) at the very least, bring some monetization back to the international clicks.

@ Энгельсский житель: yes, russia is included on the list.

What do you people not understand?

The blogs that advertise via widgetbucks will STILL HAVE TO BE ENGLISH!

The only diff will be that if your VISITORS are from outside US/CA you can get paid on CPM basis!

Daniel Larsson said...

Komunitas Blogger Garut

Read a few posts before you ask stupid questions, your blogs are NOT IN ENGLISH, so you are not allowed to show the ads!!

admin said...

Hei how about My Country Indonesia ?? there are in the list 100 country or no ??

Admin said...

i think the only thing that widgetbucks is falling is that they don't accept non English websites , i understand that the sales are not so big and the clicks doe sent convert to sales but you should allow non English sites to put widgets and to be paid for CMP. Will you consider that?

when will the ads be implemented? It is the 8th? In what part of "early" December will it happen?

Innovative Rhythms said...

Do not know when will it happen. I thought early december means first week of dec. However I do not see any such thing. I think by early dec they meant first half. Let us wait and watch. However i do not know why they did not specify a date for it. Do not think it is sending right message to publishers.

All, an updated post has been published on Int'l CPM ads (http://widgetbucks.blogspot.com). It includes more information on CPM ad reporting and an updated MyWidgets page coming out tomorrow. Two important details -- you will need to replace code to earn revenue on these ads and two, reporting on the ads results starts tomorrow (12/12).
